Foundation Blocks

I created this tower of blocks to demonstrate how children develop upon the foundations that are given to them. Each foundation sets the child up for their future foundations. The adults in their lives create these foundations for them. This is one reason I am so passionate about the work I do with young children. Until children can grow into mature people that are in control of their lives, they rely on us to give them what they need. I advocate for children to make sure they get the best foundations they can.

  1. Jalice,
I really liked the illustration that you constructed. I agree that children are deeply influenced by the foundation that we can help them build. Your choice to use the point of view of the child, speaking from their experience, made it more than just an educational tool. I could easily imagine that each of the cylinders was a developmental phase that the child was in and the experiences that they were encountering, which led to the next phase. I think that you did a really great job interpreting how the child feels in these stages or foundations in their life. It was also a great reminded of the influence that the adults in a child’s like can have on the “creation” of a strong adult.
    Thanks again,
    Amanda
